I tried it on my computer once - I noticed the read/write light on the USB stick was constantly flashing when I had ReadyBoost set up. Have a look for that.

It is my understanding that readyboost is helpful if you have 1 gig or less of ram, but not very helpful if you have 2 gigs or more.

Ready Boost as I understand it was designed for systems with less that 1Gb of ram (or better yet for laptops etc. What it can do is load page files to the ram disk thereby accessing these files faster rather than looking on your HDD.I'm probably way off base here but that's what the help files in Vista Ultimate X64 said.So basically it's supposed to boot faster??.I tried this with a 16Gb Corsair flash drive and I didn't really see any difference, mind you I'm running 2x1Gb 1066Mhz mem so probably wouldn't see any gain anyway.

I purchased an 8 gig just for Readyboost (with 7 gigs of ram, I know I really don't need it, but the flash drive was cheap). However all Vista Ultimate x64 will let me use is half - 4 gigs. Is that the way it works (only allowing half to to used for Readyboost)? I thought the guide lines for Readyboost was to install a flash drive 1.5 to 2 times the amount of ram??

Hello all, I found this.

Matt Ayers said:
"I'm the Program Manager in the Microsoft Windows Client Performance group and own the ReadyBoost feature. I wanted to give some offical answers based on the excellent questions and discussions that I've seen in this blog, to date. Also, I'll be using this as a starting point for the official ReadyBoost FAQ.

Overall, as many posters have pointed out, the feature is designed to improve small random I/O for people who lack the expansion slots, money, and or technical expertise to add additional RAM. As y’all know, adding RAM is still the best way to relieve memory pressure."
