Vista-challenged

I had just recently got a new computer and have Vista on it. I tried to copy some of my old files from my computer, which has Xp Home on it. Now I know that Vista is 64-bit and XP is not and there are problems, but is there a way to be able to view pics and files from XP and make them compatible with Vista? I'm a bit Vista-challenged, being a bit new to the system. Any help you be greatly appreciated

a media file is a media file, be it a video, picture, song, etc. . .if you can read it on XP, your vista machine should be able to do the same without problem. What error are you getting when you try to open your photos and such?

Thanks for the help. You were right. It seems that when I tried to save the files from the external drive (the xp files) to the new hard drive (vista), it had issues. But once I cleared them all off the new hard drive and just read it from the external drive, everything is working fine.
