Error code 19

Hello:

My PC got infected by some rootkit and i solved it. The problem now is Vista isn't recognizing USB controllers, none of them.

When i go to device manager i get this message under every universal USB controller "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)" so i can't get work any USB device (mouse, printer, hdd).

I have tried to uninstall every controller, unplugged every USB device with no luck. Still the same error when Vista tries to install the controllers again. Also repaired registry (don't have a backup), still the same error.

I have tried a restore point but i don't have any due to the changes that were made to solve the virus.

Any thought or solutions?

I'm not planning a reformat for now.

When you uninstalled the USB controllers, did you allow Windows to automatically re-install them, or did you do so manually from your motherboard driver CD?

Uninstall all your USB controllers, then install the drivers from you motherboard driver disc BEFORE you have device manager re-detect the controllers.

That should help.

I don't have a Motherboard CD

Motherboard Model: ASUSTek Computer INC. Basswood
Motherboard Chipset: Intel P965 (Broadwater-P) + ICH8DH

Do you know where to get the drivers online and which ones according to this model?

You can check on the ASUS download website : ASUSTeK Computer Inc.

The information you provided was not enough for me to identify the correct motherboard. Perhaps you'll have more luck.
