| Vista Guru | Rename Files Can someone please help me?.. I have a lot of Pictures in my pictures folder, that start from file number 01-200,they are pictures taken from my camera. The problem is..I need to rename them??, instead of renaming them for eg: Riptorn 1 Riptorn 2,can I rename the whole lot??,instead of seperately doing it?..is there a free program that allows this?.Thank You Riptorn |

| Master | Re: Rename Files Hello Riptorn, You can do this right in windows explorer. Select the range of files. Right click on the first file and click rename. Type in the name portion (Riptorn in your example) and press enter. Windows will number them automatically. Only thing I don't like is that the numbers are put in parenthesis. I'm not in Vista at the moment, but if I remember correctly, the first file will not recieve a number. The numbers will start with 2 and you will have to rename that first one(add the (1)) to get everything in order. Would be nice if that could get fixed for W7. Still, it is nice if you have a lot of photos to rename. Gary |

| Antidisestablishmentarian | Re: Rename Files Cheers - that list is a very very comprehensive for freebies that work like a charm and work well on Vista (and particularly x64). It is a good list to have bookmarked. |
