Solved Strange Happening

Hi, I have a rather unusual question if anyone can help me. I recently purchased a new computer. While surfing last night I had noticed that when I looked at the defrag drive my computer said that it had last been defragged on Jan.of 2005. Do you find this (as I do) somewhat strange. I have contacted the store and the computer manufacturer. Does it seem like maybe they sold me a refurbished computer when I was supposed to have bought a new one. Just looking for an opinion. Thanks in advance.

Hi eyore953, I believe the person who installed the OS had set the date wrong therefore as the strange result.

Another way you can find out is posting you specs so we can look at it and tell if it is built with '05 technology.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Do a defrag now and see what date it will say.

Ok thank you--I have been informed that maybe the store has changed some parts--I am a computer Geek so please tell me where to find my specs and I will send them to you. Thanks

The store is way to willing for me to return this computer for a new one. That makes me wonder more.

I have also written to the computer manufacturer. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Can you also tell me how I can make my text larger.

The easiest way to do that is to download the Vista Forums Sys Info Tool from here. http://www.vistax64.com/software-tools/176785-vistaforums-sysinfo-tool.html
Put a check mark in Computer info, Video Card, Drives and CD?DVD Rom. Then click the round window logo at the bottom (start button). Give us the manufacturer and model of the computer, the CPU, the video card manufacturer, model and ram, the drive model(s) and the CD drive name(s). That should be a good start.

Don't know where your trying to increase text size. If you mean in IE, just hold down the Ctrl key and either use the mouse wheel or the +/- keys.

Hope this makes sense.

Gary

You can look at your bios date on the bootup screen. This will tell you the last time the update was applied. (That is the time the update was written for the bios not put on the machine). If the date has an 05 year you are using older tech.
The motherboard would be a sure fire way of telling you what the date of manufacture. As said in the previous post use the Info tool to get the specs and let us know.
