    "Take Ownership"

I am trying to install and run the "take ownership" program so that I can delete come need permission files.. I follow all the steps below (the automatic process) but when I perform step "5" I get a note pad of Windows Registry. I do not see nor get a "continue" button as mentioned in step "6". It seems like a dead end after the registry window appears..

I am really trying to do this

    thank you again
    Ken

    Re: "Take Ownership"

    Hello Ken,

It sounds like you gave the .reg file extension associated to be opened with Notepad by mistake. Using Method Two in this tutorial, change the Current Default program for the file extension name .reg to Registry Editor (C:\Windows\regedit.exe) instead. Afterwards, try merging the reg file again.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn
