I can't because it is part of the operating system, I have 2 factory reset discs but I can't find a file or repair option.

To get the run command hit WIN+R to bring up the run dialogue box.

To add the Run option to the start menu (for future use):

Right-Click on the Start menu>select properties > select Start Menu Tab > select customize > then scroll down and tick the Run Command box.

Hope it helps :)

Did you check to see if you had a C:\temp folder? There should be one, but if not, create one.

Try this method:

create a directory on C:\ as C:\dot and copy the dotnetfx.exe file to that folder

On the Start menu type cmd into the search field and when cmd.exe appears, right-click and select run as administrator.

Type cd\dot to access the C:\dot folder.

Then try the command again: (copy and paste)

dotnetfx.exe /t:c:\temp /c:"msiexec.exe /i c:\temp\netfx.msi REINSTALL=ALL ReinstallMODE=vomus

What version did you download?
What errors are you getting?

Still struggling, I cannot create a folder or file C:\ it won't accept the :\.

I tried to download net.framework 3.5 It started to load then I got a message "Microsoft Common language runtime native compiler has stopped working"

The install then backs up and I get repetions of the above message until I manage to stop it, I have had up to 10 windows before It stopped.

I have a C:\temp folder.

If I try to load 2.0 I get the message "this file is part of OS"

Sorry, I actually meant for you to call the folder DOT and not a . ;)

Just create the C:\DOT folder in explorer. The folder name itself doesn't matter, it was just an easy folder name to get to at the cmd prompt.

Perhaps you need to download 1.1

How do you know your .net framework is corrupt?

I told you I was a bit thick!!! I am trying to load a program and I get a message that .Net framework is not working. I did scannow and I have problems that cannot be repaired. I am having other problems which I think are OS related. Adobe 9 has stopped working today. I have scanned for viruses with Avast and I have Reg Fix 7 loaded but it doesn't cure my problems I bought Uniblue Powere suite but I had to claim my money back because I couldn't load it, this is when the .net framework problems surfaced. I am beginning to think I might have to go for a complete reload of Vista, but again I don't know how to do it. The computer didn't come with a Vista system disc I had to create 2 factory reset discs. All my main files are on a separate hard drive. I back up once a week.
