Slower startup???

I have a question, and i would be glad if u could help me.
My laptop is MSI gx600 , C2D T8300 2.4ghz, 4gb ram, 8600M GT 512 ddr3

My vista (ultimate x64) is working perfectly, and only one thing bothers me.When I installed vista, and some programs (cc cleaner,winamp..), everything was fine during startup. But, when i downloaded Dreamscene from Windows update, now when desktop shows-the background is still (frozen), and the only thing I can click with mouse is taskbar, and icons on taskbar. Then, after one and a half, or two minutes, the circle on the mouse shows, like its loading something, the background start playing, and then everything works perfectly.I was looking at programs that starts with windows, but nothing-those are the same programs that were before dreamscene (java, windows defender, roccat drivers, nvcpldaemon, nvmediacenter) . When I uninstaled dreamscene, everything was fine again. But, since I want DS, is there a soultion? Is there a manual dreamscene instalation, so that I can try with that-without windows update? Or its not DS, its something else.
Also, when my friend installed vista 64 on his computer, he downloaded DS also via Windows update, and he doesnt have that problem.
Thanks in advance, a lot.

Re: Slower startup???

Maybe DS starts on start up? Check msconfig...make sure DS is not checked to start on start up. And while you are there, see if you can uncheck other programs that do not need to start on start up.

Re: Slower startup???

nope, the only things that's in ms config are:
Windows Defender
Deamon Tools Lite
Nvidia Compatible Windows Vista Driver
Java(TM) Platform Se 6 U11
Kone
Adobe CS4 Service Manager

There is no DS on startup here.

Re: Slower startup???

I tried, and nothing... I unchecked everything, to see if it's going to work but no... When I reinstall the OS, it's ok, but as soon as I download DS from Windows update-it's starts happening... Maybe is some driver, or... Any more ideas? Thanks for those, I appreciate a lot...

Re: Slower startup???

Hi ddak,

I don't exactly know why your dreamscenes are acting this way but why don't you go to Control Panel- Power Options and check High Performance, if you don't already have it checked and see if that makes a difference. Here's a link with a little info and also this tutorial for using DeskScapes. You can try using those and see if it makes any difference from DreamScenes. Just download the Deskscapes program (free) and then pick some deskscapes from the dream gallery. They have a lot more selection than Windows Dreamscenes.
