MP4 and Windows movie maker

I'll keep this short as I've had a few beers

I bought the wife a HD video camera for Xmas, it records in mp4 format.

What do I need to convert this to a format that I can play with it in windows movie maker? (free is good)

Re: MP4 and Windows movie maker

ummm - you running hte Vista Codec Package? If so, go to it in the start menu, and you should be able to 'fix' MP4 playback. Of course, I want to know if you meant Windows Media OPlayer as opposed to Windows Movie Maker - isn't that for *making* movies as opposed to playing them, or does it do both?

You tanker you....

Re: MP4 and Windows movie maker

Vista codec pack didn't play them, but I did get a codec on the disk and this works for playing with media player.

I tried an import to movie maker and it's not a supported format.

No worries - I know you have too little time to get tanked up - If I take a drink at New year's it will be my first in 4+ years....but I don't plan on taking one....

I am surprised that the VCP did not play them.....
