Random Freezing

Hello all, I'm currently running
Asus N80vc
Intel Dou P8600 2.4 Ghz
4 gigs DDR2 RAM
And 32 bit vista home premium service pack 1

I'm seeming to experience very frequent random freezes of my computer. They seem to take place mainly after putting the computer into sleep mode and returning. Every time (or so it seems) I seem to be using firefox 3.0 when the freeze occurs.

I know the problem isn't overheating for it still freezes when I have it on a cooling pad.
Any ideas?

Thanks Airbot, I appreciate the link but unfortunately it didn't solve my problem. Is there possibly a list of common reasons why this would happen?
