asus p6t deluxe/ddr3 tri problems

Hey all,

I was wondering if anybody out there is having freezing/random restart problems using Asus' p6t deluxe MOBO or having problems using Corsair's 6GB 1333Mhz ddr3 tri channel (TR3X6G1333C9) while using Ultimate64.

Thanks,

Sal

Have you checked the ram speeds and voltages are correct in the bios - both i7 mobo's I have had didn't.

Thank you for your reply,

The latency speeds were/are off. Currently they are running (on AUTO) at 8-8-8-20, while the RAM was tested for 9-9-9-24. I tried fixing the timing, but the problems kept happening. So I swtched them back to AUTO, hence why they are again running at 8-8-8-20.

The voltages should be correct. The minimum number you can put in is 1.5, and the RAM was tested at 1.5.

The RAM IS approved by Asus on its Qual. Vendor List.

All settings are currently on AUTO, but I'm about to start screwing with the voltages. I've read on various forums that people have upped the voltages to 1.64v and manually inputed everything, and the problems went away. (These were problems SIMILAR to mine, not exactly like mine). I'm waiting for a copy of XP from a buddy so I can install it on my 1TB, juuuuust to make sure this isnt an Ultimate thing before I start playing with power...

Did you have any problems, and did your change fix them? Any freezing/random restarts? I'm assuming you had/have a p6t deluxe? Or did you just have a couple of i7 boards?

Thanks for your time,

Sal

I'm having the same problem. Computer randomly restarts. I've even had a restart happen while I was in the BIOS.(tonight)

Hats of to 64x Vista for not crapping out with all these restarts.

All my settings are on auto,

My System:
P6T
i7 920
3GB Corsair Tri DDR3
1 1TB SATA HD
ATI 3870 PCIe 2

I'd like to get to the bottom of this asap.

** and when I say radom restarts, I mean a complete instant shutdown, no errors nothing, just like when you power up.

My Computer

I have only had one instant reboot in the last two weeks. Haven't had time to go back through the logs to investigate, but it may have been a GPU overheat that did that one.

My system has been much more stable since I did my last system load without all the ASUS junk. No turboV, no AI tweaker, none of the ASUS addons.

Have also seen more people with problems with ATI graphics cards as opposed to Nvidia. Don't know the fix for that one.

Alan

I got the same situation like yours even worse. After restart two of my IDE DVD keep on spinning. HD led also steady on.
I load both 32 bit and 64 bit on a 750GB SATA in two different partition.
my system also with the Intel 920, ASUS EAH 4670 video card. everything auto in bios.
I remove all ASUS program, floppy drive and one of my IDE DVD drive to see it will help.

Have this problem,

system specs

AMD Ahtlon 6000 dual core
2 X hitachi 500GB HDD (set as 1TB RAID 0)
4 GB corsair RAM (4 X 1GB 800 MHz DDRII dual channel)
Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H mobo

When the 4670 is installed PC randomly restarts, at first lasts for about 15 mins, then randomly restarts after a few minutes and eventually before managing to get to Vista desktop, eventually hangs at blue screen on boot up.

Try another graphics card??? using mobo onboard graphics for the moment.

I have this particular ram in 12GB triple channel mode and it works fantastic.
Read the motherboard manual thoroughly to find out in which slots your suppose to populate 3 dimm's. Asus in this case usually specifies to occupy opposite slots meaning A1,B1,C1 of total 6 memory slots.
Some motherboards will run from one memory slot (1GB/2GB) thus beign designated and others will boot from every other slot. This is mainly for testing purposes.
Populate one dimm (2GB) and see how Vista behaves. If the freezing/restarting stops than install the next (4GB total) and so forth however if you still encounter errors than it's either a new BIOS to be upgraded or a manlfunctioning memory slot and that's really rare for Asus.
If your not overclocking than you shouldn't be manipulating any ram settings within the BIOS. The motherboard sets the default ram timings/voltages which are meant to stable and don't need manual adjustments.
I've built several computers on Asus motherboards and the system memory hierarchy of Asus hasn't changed throughout these years.
Good luck.

P.S. Forgot to mention one important fact: 920/940 by default support 1.06GHz memory. 1.3GHZ is EE only.
