Webcam Light Not Working

Hey Guys,
I have a problem. On my friends laptop there is a webcam light that is supposed to light up when the webcam is active but it doesn't. Its a Presario CQ70 116EM.

Could it have been somehow disabled? I have tried everything to get it working again but have hit a dead end.

Any thoughts?

I have had a look through some (but not all) of the available information and I cannot find anything regarding this light, other than it is supposed to illuminate when the webcam is accessed.

Is the webcam functioning correctly other than this light failing to come on? It could be that the light has failed. You can get a replacement webcam module, but in order to fit it you will need to disassemble the laptop - this is certainly not a job for the faint-hearted. Consequently, if this is the only fault and there is nothing actually wrong with the webcam itself, I would be inclined to leave it alone.

I cant leave it. I was trying to prove a point about how much security is important so I hacked into his webcam to show him. Now he is so paranoid he wont do anything and is shouting at me to fix the light so he can see if someone is watching .

He wont even log on anymore .
Note to self: Never prove a point again...
