Solved How to create system restore point older than 30 days

Hi there! I am looking for some good advice. I have a 32 bit Home Basic version of Vista and am having a problem since I installed Earthlink Accelerator. I have had 3 extensive chat sessions with their techs and still can't get it to work and now cannot uninstall it either as there is a file missing. I have a new disk from them to re-install but it won't install the program as it says I already have a version installed (yes, but it is defective!) I have tried to get rid of it using System Restore, but don't have a restore point older than when I installed it (1/30). Can anyone tell me how to manually create a restore point older than 30 days? I have plenty of available space. Thanks! czgator

You cannot create a restore point further back, you can create one now, or you can restore one previously created either manually or through an automatic checkpoint- You can maunally remove the program if it was installed with the Windows Installer using the uninstaller, or you can remove the program's registry enties through regedit, or you can try to repair Windows, or re-install Windows, and then create your own recovery disk with all data/programs/settings for quick re-install in the future.

Thanks for that information at least. I used to have GoBack and it was much better. You could restore your system back to several months. Any ideas on some good downloads for manually deleting programs? I have tried deleting this program with uninstall, but cannot.

Maybe I should have said can I access a previously created restore point older than 30 days. I have clicked on the "show all restore points older than 5 days" and they only go back to the first week of February...

EDIT: Your system is assigned a certain space called shadow copy storage, when this is used up, older restore points are overwritten. They are not retrievable. You can though, increase the shadow copy storage through the Command Prompt to save restore points futher back than 30 days, but this will not help you now.

How to manually uninstall earthlink Accelerator using regedit:
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/179253-registry-editor-find-find-next.html

Start> in search, type, regedit>click enter, click "continue"> click "edit" , in search type, earthlink (or if you do not wish to remove all Earthlink entries type earthlink accelerator)>click "find"/"find next">delete all entries/folders highlighted untill no more exist.

!!!Caution!!! back up registry/ or create restore point before attempting to edit

Can you get the missing file from the support? Is it an uninstall file? I have fixed a similar problem by retrieving missing files from my backup.
