get explorer to let go of files

So far I tried 5 different delete utilities and nothing worked without a reboot!
This Vista64 is a PITA when it comes to locked files. Anyone having any luck with an Unlocker clone that works in 64 bit?

Thanks. I tried that one. I get the "program has stopped working" msg.

Did you Installed it while "Run as Administrator"... Vista hates it when you don't do that.

It doesn't make a difference. It has something to do with an explorer bug. I have previously used Process Explorer to close handles and delete files since Unlocker won't work. This time I got the same crap out error. I'm going to try using TeraCopy for moves from now on and see how that goes.

I hope the Unlocker developer comes up with a 64 bit update soon. I miss that little utility.

Heh. FileAssassin didn't do the trick but ironically the solution was at Malwarebyes. I ran the Malwarebytes scanner and it found a registry hack. Some crap about NoActiveDesktopChanges. I must've picked it up just in the last few days someplace.

    Hi Miles,

I had the exact same thing quite a while ago, the NoActiveDesktopChanges value was set to 1 instead of 0.

I guess this 64 bit is a mixed blessing. Can't run Sanboxie, but can run 4 copies of my video encoder!
