Sleeping

Hi!

I recently installed Vista Ultimate x64, and I'm puzzled at how sleep mode works.
It went into sleep mode, and neither keyboard nor mouse could wake it up again.
I pressed sleep button again on keyboard, and computer went to hibernation, then tried to wake it up again but nothing.
I finally had to push reset on the case itself.

Thanks Brink.
Unfortunately, that thread did not help me, though it s very thorough and nicely written.
The same thing happened to me today again.
My first thing to find out the next time it happens is if the motherboard made the sound on powering up, cause I've read on some forums that it could be a problem in a mobo.

Cause this time it didnt happen when computer was on, I couldn't power it up. I mean, it acted as it was turned on, but monitor acted like it's not. So I pressed sleep button on my keyboard, and computer went to sleep, and when I pressed a button on keyboard, it woke him but, in low res.
Very strange.

As a test, reset the BIOS to factory default settings to see if that may help.

My Computer

I have been troubleshooting a new pc for about three months on this issue (or something similar). I have learned a number of things over this time including that it isn't really going to sleep. It is actually locking up. Mine tends to do this when I leave it for some time, attempt to launch Windows Media Center, install a new program that requires admin access, running the Windows Experience and a number of other random things. In each case, the result is the same. Screen goes black, pc still running, no response from mouse or keyboard and forced to hard reboot. If any of this sounds familiar take a look at your event viewer (windows - type "even viewer) and let me know the errors you are seeing at about the time of the issue. If they are the same as mine (and many others) I have a few next steps that will provide more information and some things you can try.
