Solved Eliminate Sign On

Being very new to Vista I didn't have this with XP that I recall. I can't seem to find a way out of having to sign in every time I boot up and after a brief period of being away and come back, I have to sign in again after about 30 minutes. Where can you go to alter these settings? Being the only one on this computer I don't see the need in a password and having to sign in so much.

Nope-I tried both names and it indicated, "No items match your search". I checked out the control panel and went into Admin tools/user accounts and there's a box there to tick or untick "Use user account Control to help protect your computer". If I untick that, will I achieve the same kthing?

Have a look at the following Tutorial: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/85539-screen-saver.html and ensure that the option On resume, display logon screen is unchecked (i.e., the checkbox is clear).

Yes, it's unchecked.

Then try this: Go to control panel - System & Maintenance - Power Options. On top left you should have Require a password...If the Don't require password is greyed out, press the link "Change setting that are currently unavailable"

Very odd-that didn't work either.I'm nearly convinced I can't opt out of this password protect logon. I made the change, restarted and wasstillprompted for the password. I'm surprised the first suggestion from SIW2 didn't work.

I wonder if some security policy is stopping this?
You could perhaps try the Systems File Checker. It can reset changed policies.

Thanks for sharing. I wonder what the problem was.

I wish I knew. I hope to find out, however. At least there's more than one way to do it. Thanks for the recommendations even if on my computer they didn't work for some unknown reason.
