My lap top died. I purchased a new lap top with Vista. I removed the hard drive from the old lap top and purchased an enclosure to make it an USB drive.

I now want to transfer the user Files using the Vista File Transfer program. The problem is when I plug the old hard drive into the new Vista computer it sees that drive but I cannot figure out how to transfer the files. Vista keeps looking at the drive in the new computer for the files to transfer. My question is can I plug in a drive that has the user files to transfer? It seems that Vista looks for a file transfer cable or a network, or a DVD,CD,USB, hard drive that has the files transferred from the old computer to it than you can transfer to the new Vista. When you plug the drive in that has the files to transfer it does not work.

I hope this makes sense. I have the old hard drive form a broken lap top and would like to transfer the user files via Vista File Transfer....through the USB port
