I just got my new computer with Vista Home Premium x64, from Windows Professional XP.

Installed programs are not showing up at Start/All Programs.
Some are in directory C: Programs or Program Files (x86) and still dont't show up.

Help!

the first thing i can think of, right off the top of my head, is during the installation process, were you given a prompt to "create start menu items?" or something similarly worded? it's happened to me before that you get into a mode to click all of the "next" buttons and inadvertently skip past the point where the program creates the start menu icons.

you can go to start > control panel > uninstall a program then single click the program(s) in question and at the top, see if you get the option to repair the program. if you don't get that option, you'll probably have to uninstall then reinstall the program(s).

Probably overlooked it at install.
Do you know why there are to Program Files and Program Files (x86)?

Maybe the programs x86 is for 32bit programs and the other is 64bit programs.

Rcalzadilla,

You can also manually create shortcuts by right clicking on the program's exe files in the C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86) folder and click Send To and Desktop (create shortcut), then move the shortcut to the Start menu.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
