Help me with windows installer problem

Looking for help! At some point in the past I must have done SOMETHING to cause this.

When I start my computer up everything boots fine except there is this little window from "windows installer" that pops up while everything is starting up. It tries to install "something", it doesn't say what it is, it doesn't install it, then it disappears after a few seconds. This happens at start up EVERY TIME.:sa:

My question is: Where can i go to find out what the computer is trying to install in WINDOWS INSTALLER and GET RID OF IT.

Any advice would be so appreciated.
Tim

I would be more concerned about what is trying (or is installing).

What antivirus are you running and are you using UAC? Have you been using registry cleaners?

If you have been using registry cleaners you may have corrupted Windows scan here:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/165576-how-make-vista-more-responsive-faster.html
If you have corruption you may want to do a system restore to a point before you corrupted the computer.

Patio. Thanks for your response. I tried to download the Windows Installer Clean up utility. Here is what it says " Error 1500. Another installation is in progress. You must complete that installation before continuing this one."

Is there a way i can find this process in the task manager and end it? I think what MAY have done it was downloading a printer driver for a printer I received. Not sure though. I can't install ANYTHING until i end this continuing installation of some mysterious whatever.
Thanks IN ADVANCE!

rive0108,

Thanks. It doesn't tell me what is TRYING to be installed. I am using PC-cillin Internet Security 14. Which was originally incompatible with Vista when I bought the computer a year ago. I had to call Dell and after rebooting vista and being on the phone for hours we were able to fix the compatibility issue. I believe we did a remote session and the tech downloaded a patch.
thanks....any other suggestions?

perform a restore to a point before the driver/ Installer issue occured. You will not lose data, and it will fix the problem.

Trend Micro is not a very good Antivirus. It failed Vista antivirus testing.
suggest you install a better program (avast/Avira/AVG) are free. I recommend Eset's NOD32 4.0 or Avira Prem/Pro though.
scan your system for malware:http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/

Trend Micro
Status: FAIL
Failure reason: 3 wildlist misses, 2 false positives

hi tdorian, it may be worth a look in the "task manager" to see if "msiexec.exe" is running when it complains about another installation in progress, if you see it there use task manager to stop it (msiexec.exe). good luck
