PLEASE HELP! Plugged in, not charging?

I have had it with Vista. Out of all the 6 computers I have had, this is my only one with Vista and to tell you the truth, this has had the most problems. This never happened to me since recently. Whenever I plug in my computer to AC power, it shows as plugged in, not charging. I take it out for a while to cool it down, and then after about 15-20 minutes I put it back in, and it shows as fine. When I scan it with HP Battery Check (during "plugged in, not charging") it shows as "Replace Battery". When I scan it after I fix the problem (plugged in, charging) it shows as "Good". Then after approximately 2 hours it again shows as plugged in, not charging. Does anybody know why?

    Thanks,
    RF

P.S. I am still under parts and labor warranty, just in case.

    Hello RF,

It can be a number of things wrong. You could have a bad battery, battery loose, bad charger, bad charger connection to laptop, battery to hot to allow to charge.

Since you are still under warranty, you should have them take a look at it to have anything replaced as needed. With the HP Battery Check results, I would lean towards a defective battery though.

    Hope this helps some,
    Shawn

Thanks guys, will continue to try all the recommendations. I have already contacted HP when I thought it was the AC adapter and the are sending me a replacement. Then today I chatted with them and asked for a new battery. They said they would send it to me but I would first have to try the AC adapter. If it works with the new AC adapter, they will not send the battery but if it doesn't work they will send me a battery. If that doesn't work they will follow-up. It might be a loose charging circuit on the motherboard, but as I said I am under warranty. Worst comes to worst I replace the laptop (again). I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the ACPI but it didn't work. Oh well!

Guess what! I got my new AC adapter today in the mail and I plugged it in and it worked fine! It is continuing to work! I guess it was a loose charging pin in the AC adapter! Thanks anyway for your help

Re: PLEASE HELP! Plugged in, not charging?

I have one more quick question. Once, my friend accidentally put his MS Duo in my slot instead of MS Pro. I got it out, but now it is damaged. The drivers are right, and a light near the slot lights when a card is in. When I put my cards in, it doesn't show, and the light isn't there. When I play with the card, pushing it in and out, the light sometimes goes on but then immediately goes off. What should I do?
