Access Problem...

Hello everyone...new member here:

I'm an XP user trying to help a friend with a Vista problem. Someone else tried to help him get access to "Hidden Files" and apparently managed to kill access to his name in "Users". I have no experience with Vista, but at this point we have almost everything back except one program: Microsoft Flight Simulator. The guy has this installed on his (E:\) drive (in Program Files/Microsoft Games)...no matter what we do, it shows "Access Denied" when he tries to open it. I even had him copy/paste the entire Flight Simulator 9 folder over to (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games), but the same thing happens: "Access Denied". So apparently the attributes (or some kind of security) for just that program are preventing access, but in talking him throught it as best I can, we can't seem to find what's doing it.
Any ideas how to fix this? As of VERY late last night, I told him to just re-install the whole program, and haven't heard back from him yet. If anyone can help with this, please keep in mind that I have ZERO experience with Vista, so please be very basic.

Thanks in advance,
Garry

Apparently the Admin User account was either corrupted or deleted.

I would perform a system restore to a point before the attempt that caused corruption was performed.

Use System restore
Note- If as a result of the "Admin:User" corruption you cannot access the restore utility, this can be performed with a disk or recovery partition to access The system recovery Options:

Recovery Walkthrough: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/194765-system-recovery-options.html

Start, in search bar type restore> Click the program at top> at prompt, click "continue"> after system restore loads, choose a date/time from before the issue occured.

Here is how to access hidden files/folder in Vista
Click the User account name in start>Click "organize">Click "folder and search options">Click "view:>click the circle for "show hidden files..."> click "apply".
