Laptop Battery Wont Charge

Hi,
I am using a HP Laptop, 6314tx. It has been 1 year and 9 months since I am using it. In the past couple of months, I have experienced a battery problem. My laptop battery doesn't charge more than 33%. It was 67% first, then came down to 43% and now 32%. Sometimes, it shows '100% available (plugged in, charging).' But, when I click on the battery icon, it again shows as '32% available (plugged in, charging).'

Is there any solution to this?

Re: Laptop Battery Wont Charge

Hello Mrigankp,

You might use this HP battery test to see what the health of your battery is. It may be time to get a new battery or charger. You can read more about this test here.

Hope this helps for now,
Shawn

Re: Laptop Battery Wont Charge

Hey Brink. Thanks for the link. I downloaded HP Battery Test software. I clicked on the exe file and ran the setup. But, after the setup is complete, I don't see anything on my screen. I also checked in 'programs.' What could be the problem?

Re: Laptop Battery Wont Charge

Not sure, but this is what they say:

The Battery Check utility can be launched by clicking Start > Control Panel > HP Battery Check or by clicking Start > Hewlett-Packard > HP Battery Check

Re: Laptop Battery Wont Charge

I restarted my computer and the software started working. It says that the battery's health is weak. I need to replace my battery. But, I don't understand one thing, why the does the battery indicator sometimes shows '100% Available, Plugged In, Charging?'

Anyway, thanks for your help.
Cheerz!

Re: Laptop Battery Wont Charge

It's normal to get fluctuating results like that when the battery is failing. Sometimes it will be just fine, while most of the time it will not be.

Re: Laptop Battery Wont Charge

Oh well, it was going to happen sooner or later. I am thinking of buying a 12-cell battery. It is said that it gives a 3.5+ hours on 'high performance.'
