Vista not detecting Canon printer

Hello,

This is my first post so hopefully i get all the info to you i need.

I recently started supporting a remote site of 4 vista, 1 xp 2 mac users. They have a networked HPCP1515n printer. Original vista users are fine they can print to it but two new users to this printer cannot get vista to detect the printer.

When I run the network install drivers they get the following: error 1327.Invalid Drive z:\. I have tried the usb install but that fails similiarly too. Vista does not detect the printer but older users who were connected are fine.

I have tried installing from local c:\ all fail. i have tried older versions of the driver all fail.

The users have profiles set up to z:\

Attached is a screen shot of the error

Any ideas?

It looks like the Z drive is not mapped with proper permissions or configured for sharing on the systems where you get the error 1327.Invalid Drive z: .

Have you mapped the Z drive on all networked computers?, checked, and configured Vista permissions to allow changes, created a shared file, configured for printer and file sharing (and if applicable passwords), and run with Admin priviledges? and configured any of the firewalls to allow the traffic (i.e., Norton).?

same error with firewall disabled...

All all the systems 32-bit or 64-bit, or mixed? All the old Vista computers connected prior to SP1, or after? (there may be an issue with printing), and have you configured TC/IP settings? (see network config link below)

and have you tried manually installing the x86/x64 driver/software for the HP laserJet Printer Model # HPCP1515n?

Have you upgraded the printer firmware?

Have you tried this:
Network Config

Ps- Is there another issue with a cannon Printer?
and FYI, the error you have for the laserjet is a standard port Monitor error for an invalid Z drive (which may suggest a TC/IP configuration issue, improperly mapped drive issue and these systems cannot see/connect to the drive Printer is on- the new computers may need to be properly configured for access.)

just wanted to let you know i resolved this.

created local account on vista machines and added the printer drivers to those, and thus the printer was there for the domain accounts. a workaround if ever there was one. now to work out what really was the issue!

cheers for the help
