Recently I have had three files turn sour on me for no visible reason (corrupt). One of them is a very imporant bit of course work. Im running office 2007 and 32bit vista home. I have been storing the files on a USB stick I thing there may be someing wrong with the usb stick I have now changed it but this dose not solve my problem of the lost files. I have tried downloading various recovery programs none of which have worked. I have also downloaded open office and that will not open the files either. I don't know where to go from here. Can any one help? If someone can send me back the "energy survey" in working order im willing to send them £5 via PayPal. Only 2 the first person.

Help....

You could have a look here; Microsoft Certified Professional Magazine Online | Column: Repairing Corrupt Word 2007 Files.

Replace the corrupt file onto the desktop, right click on it and click on Restore Previous Versions apparently if you have shadow copy turned on it could find a good file. If that doesn't work go on to click How do I use previous versions?

I hope this helps

Hi there, first of all, it is important that you dont write/save anything to the USB stick, if you do so the data might get overwritten.
I took a look at the file and all i was able to recover was this:

Code:
Energy Survey
Design Applications 1

1/27/2009
London South Bank University
Ross Gobold - 2722652

Contents
Page 3 - Energy Report
Page 7 - References & Bibliography

You could try using Recuva and do a deep scan, then upload the files here, and i'll see what i can recover :)

I have had a look at the ascii content of the files. The two files that you have posted are small. This leads me to think that there is alot missing so a recovery program is required.
