Black screen with no taskbar vista

So i was using my computer last night and shut it down for the night. Then this morning i booted my computer up as normal and a BLACK screen with no taskbar but an Explorer Window poped up. Help!!! idk what to do. :cry:

Without knowing what the message was, it's hard to say. Did you install anything or make any changes before shutting down?

If you can boot normally into safe mode, it might be worth using a restore point.

Hi Chan,

Just to expand on Smarteye's post - another thing to try is :

Press F8 repeatedly during POST ( black screen with white writing that appears immediately after you start the machine ).

That should take you to the Advanced boot options screen.

Arrow to Last Known Good Configuration and press Enter.

i didn't do anything before shutting down. i did the usual shutdown like everyone does.
