Freezing usually within 5 minutes of boot up

I know three different Vista x64 systems with the same issue, all starting within a week or two of each other. . . different boards, different ages, different hardware, but common is Vista x64. . . i built two of them, and a friend built his own. . .

software all tests out fine, memory tests out fine, and anti virus, spy ware does not detect anything. . .

does anyone know of a hot fix or update that is buggy to Vista x64?

when the freeze up happens, everything stops, even the hard drives stop reading, though still spin. the event view does not give an consistent events preceding each freeze up. . . and usually a restart solves the issue, but not every time. .

thanks

This procedure frequently helps to determine whether the cause of a complete lockup is software or hardware:

The fact that 3 systems around you are (suddenly?) locking up makes a software cause slightly more likely - you're installing something on all 3 systems and there's a kernel-mode driver which is misbehaving. However, there's absolutely no guarantee at this stage that it's the same problem on all 3 systems.

If this was a general Vista bug, I'd for one be very upset, seeing as how I'm typing this on an x64 Vista installation.
