Solved delete uninstalled item from programs-file

---I have uninstalled "A" (7-day-trial-program) from my Windows-Vista properly: BUT, knowing that 'sites' also put themselves into several places/files in my laptop, I see now that it is also 'parking' down below in (start/settings/taskbar/notification/customize=hide or show) and I cannot delete "A" from here permanently, let alone make it "show" on taskbar menu!---also---below at (desktop/computer/OS:C/programfiles/"A"/subtab/subtab/subtab/---none will delete saying that it "cannot remove when it is OPEN in another file"!!!---

---(I no longer want to use the trial-7-day-gizmo because it does NOT work with my Firefox-browser)---

---H---E---L---P---

please, and thank you, anyone!

Try rebooting in Safe mode then deleting it.

Also try running a registry cleaner or doing it manually.

please, and thank you, anyone!

Have you tried uninstalling through Advanced Search? This is how I rid my system of all those unwanted remnants after I uninstall an app I've just downloaded and then uninstalled:

From anywhere in Vista, press the Windows Key + F (or go into the Start Menu, and from inside the Search pane, press F3).
That brings up the Search page - click the Advanced Search button to the far top-right, to open the search Set Up page.
On the Set-Up page, check the 'Include non-indexed, hidden, and system files' option.
Under Location, select C Drive, or Computer, or Everywhere, and in the Name box, fill in the name of the application or program. Click on the Search button.

After this first search is completed, do additional searches for all other key words you think might be associated with that application, (especially the name of the company that produced the application). The searches could take 10 seconds or 10 minutes, depending on how many files/folders there are to go through, but eventually, they should catch all of the remnants of the application.

PS: A word of caution: Occasionally, some of the files that will come up in the search may NOT be associated with the application you're trying to delete. If you're not sure, don't delete those files, because you might be deleting something integral to another file or application. You have to be very careful! However, if you do delete something by accident, fortunately, you can always recover it from the Recycle Bin when you catch your mistake.

Hello Kikidee,

You might see if using the free program Unlocker on it may be able to allow you to delete any of those files or folders afterwards. Resetting the notification icons can help get rid of any of those old notification icons for uninstalled programs as well.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Once installed click on the Clean Up Windows tab and then click on Tune Up Shortcut Cleaner. That should get rid of any leftover links.

Dont install ccleaner etc as their registry cleaners are junk.

Just use it to fix your pc problems then when the 30 days are up either buy it or uninstall it.

What browser are you using?

Also im confused by what you are trying to say. Is the folder you are trying to get rid of in C:\Program Files or is it a folder located in the vista start orb then All programs

---I use the FIREFOX browser now, since it was recommended to me a month ago and I truly LOVE it, compared to Internet-Explorer!------and I just cleared the browser out, went into the 'control-panel'+programs and uninstalled the "ASK-browser" that I do not want----
---the game-site I go to 'MumboJumbo' is the ONE tab/word/file still sitting in my--->START--->Programs lists---(yes-the-all-programs)---I have already uninstalled the actual program, I finally deleted a few of its subtabs while in 'reboot-safe-mode'---but the main line/name of the site is still perma-parked in my programs!---(of course they want me to continuously go there - since some online games cannot be played without them downloading their 'info' into MY system)---grrr---
---I do not want a zillion site-logos parked in my comp---I like simple, clean look---

Ah when you installed Tune Up Utilities you didnt uncheck the box for the Ask toolbar.

On a completly different discussion lol. If you like a clean browser look at this plugin for firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1455 It helps to make the interface even smaller

But anyway back to your problem. Right click on the vista start orb. Then left click on Explore All Users. This will open a window with the folders located in the start menu. You should be able to find the entry there and delete it.

If not then go into the start menu again and find the item you want to remove. Right click on it and then left click on Properties. This will open a new window, you then click on the General tab and next to location is where that file is stored. You can now go to that folder and delete it.

You can also open Tune Up Utilities and click the Free Up Disk Space and delete as much as you can. Then click on the Clean Up Windows tab and click on the registry cleaner and do a full scan and delete everything it comes up with (dont worry about this as it creates a backup and in two years of using it iv never seen an entry appear that shouldnt) Once you've done that reboot your pc.

----I know now-yes-I did not SEE to uncheck the the box for the 'ASK-toolbar' when I installed Tune-up - gee - isn't it interesting how those companies make them so small as for the eye to bypass them and mainly focus on the actual task that I was eager to do?---

---OMG---THANK YOU!!!---you are right---it works!---I did NOT know that one can actually "RIGHT-click" on the start TAB, not orb-(I use the standard/style-do not like new vista style)---I like learning something new each day---now I have to pay it forward and help someone else here, right?---

peace

Yeah you've got to check every installer you use now as many of them include bloatware.

Im glad you fixed the problem and learned something new lol. If you see someone with a problem you know how to fix then the nice thing to do is help them. Spread good Karma everywhere. :)
