Solved Virtualization

hi folks,
I am running Vista x64 and would like to get the best out of the OS as I can, I only use it for gaming-downloading and watching film/TV shows, I have come across a setting in my Bios that is called Virtualization and it is turned on, have try'd to look it up and as far I can see it only needs to be on if you plan to run more than one OS ( witch I don't ) , So would it benefit me to turn it off?

Cheers for any info if you have some.

Hi johnmunch, yes you are right. Virtualization means you can run a guest OS within a host OS. Its useless and i would recommend you to turn it off as you run only one OS.

Hello John,

Welcome to Vista Forums.

This is for running other OS's in virtual machines. MS has software for this, http://www.sevenforums.com/redirect-to/?redirect=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.microsoft.com%2Fdownloads%2Fdetails.aspx%3FFamilyId%3D04D26402-3199-48A3-AFA2-2DC0B40A73B6%26displaylang%3Den, and Sun Micro has Vbox, http://www.sevenforums.com/redirect-to/?redirect=http://www.virtualbox.org/. I am running Win 7 RC as they main (host) OS and have Vista and a couple others that run in Virtual machines. If I need to check something out to help with a question, I can boot it up in the VM and use it without having to reboot.

As far as I know it isn't needed otherwise. It was off by default on my machine.

Hope this helps,

Gary

Edit: To fast for me, Dinesh.

Thank you, and the info on this site has been top notch, have just used most of the tips on Brink Speed Up the Performance of Vista, wow what a change in speed that was, click a program and it is open, no-more 2-3 sec's wait time.

Again thank you for getting back to me as it's all was better to be safe than sorry when playing around with settings in the Bios.
:D
