Hi there.

I have a admin account, this was the only account created during setup, of this computer, which is a new computer.

I was wondering is this the "fully fledged administrators account" that i am using or do i have to activate it .

Thanks

It's not a good idea to use an account with administrative privileges for daily tasks. Instead, it's safer to log on as a limited user and to elevate (to admin) only when absolutely necessary for things like changing the system's configuration.

Also, the built-in admin account is no more "powerful" than other administrators. Any account with administrator privileges is omnipotent on that machine.

I see,what you mean,
I dont see an option, for a limited account, just a standard account, is this the one i should create and use for daily tasks.

"Limited" is synonymous with "standard" in this instance. All it means is an account _without_ administrative privileges.

Using a limited/standard account for daily work is arguably the single most important thing that can be done to protect the computer against internet nasties. There are lots of questions here from people whose machines have unfortunately been infected by one or more viruses, and almost 100% of them make the mistake of using an administrative account for routine tasks. Usually it's a lack of knowledge, but sometimes it's misguided bravado - "I'm an expert and I can handle running as an admin" - whereas the exact opposite is true - that attitude is amateurish and dangerous from a security perspective.

Thankyou so much for your advice, i have now created a standard account, and will only use the admin account when it is necessary to do so.
