Hello The Cool Guy,

As far as I know Vista cannot be installed on a removable drive. :(

Sorry,
Shawn

What about Win7?:o And another thing is that, though the drive is shown on Computer, windows says "Device driver installation failed". See the screen shots for more details.

Does the drive open when you try in Computer?

You may need to use compatibility mode on the driver installation file.

What does it say in Device Manager for the device? You might also see if you may have a duplicate of the device listed with a error.

See if uninstalling the unknown device from Device Manager can remove it without Vista trying to install the device again. If Vista tries to install the device again, then check to see if you have the latest motherboard chipset drivers installed.

Well, I suppose that if it is working ok otherwise, I would not worry about it to much. You might contact your motherboard, or computer, manufacturer to see if they have or can work on a driver for it.

There is a CD provided with the HDD. But that's only for Win98. I even tried to start the installation, but it said it needs win98.
