vista not loading

Hi
For some reason, I cannot always load windows Vista Home in normal mode.

I did a log and it seems to hang here:
Did not load driver @nettun.inf,%6to4mp.displayname%;Microsoft 6to4 Adapter

There are a number of these listed.

I can boot into safe mode, I have run a registry check using regcure, but no joy. I still cannot boot into normal mode, it just gets to the bar going accross and nothing happens.

I have SP1 installed.
The problem appeared to occur after trying to upgrade AVG Antivirus, but I removed this, cleaned out all entries pertaining to AVG in Registry, but this did not solve the problem.
Help please

Hello Barry,

Welcome to the Forum.
Try to repair Vista. Follow the steps in this tutorial. Perhaps it will help. If not, reinstall Vista once again, but before that try to gather all needed drivers, so you can install them right away after reformatting the drive.

Hope it helps. Cheers...

Hi
Unfortunately, I do not have the Disk!
Any other help appreciated!
Cheers
Barry

Somehow you have corrupted Windows

create a WinRE disk and use system restore. You can also try the command prompt [ sfc /scannow ], this will check for and fix corrupted protected system files, if this fails, and startup cannot be repaired your only recourse is to obtain a Vista dvd and re-install.

Hi
Hmm.. WinRe meaning a recovery Disk, I assume, as to System restore, I cannot get back other that three days, otherwise I would have tried to do a System restore prior to the problem occuring. No option to go back any further for some reason.

Did you check the box to show older restore points?

If this is not an option try System file check from the command prompt, and startup repair. You will need to create and burn the WinRE disk to access the advanced recovery options.

sfc /scannow

Recovery disc has just the same features as the Vista installation one to be used to repair Vista. Download the ISO file, burn it on the CD and follow the tutorial how to repair the Vista.

Hello Barry,

Seems like the only way to repair you computer is to clean install the Vista. If you don't have the installation disc, perhaps you can borrow one from your friend and use your key to activate it. Guess you can also ask for the disc at your computer supplier.

By the way, I don't understand way the new machines are not equipped with the recovery discs as they were in the past.

Cheers...
