Cpu and Memory not listed in system

have a question, my wifes laptop that has vista home premium preinstalled on it, works fine no issues except for the fact that when i go into system it says that my processer and memory(ram) are not available see below. and they used to be listed, laptop still runs fine with out them listed so no big deal if they are there or not just want to compare the ratings with the desktop.

MODEL: EXTENSA 4420
RATING: IS BLANK DUE TO THE NEXT TWO ITEMS
PROCESSOR: NOT AVAILABLE
MEMORY (RAM): NOT AVAILABLE
SYSTEM TYPE: 32-BIT OPERATING SYSTEM

is there any way to fix this. and yes the cpu is listed in device manager just not system information. it is a AMD ATHLON 64 X2 TK-55

Was the proc added after you bought the PC (same with the RAM) or are they the same that came with the PC?

no the laptop was bought that way from bestbuy. showed up originaly and than just noticed it was saying this recently. still runs fine just would like to know how to get it back.

Have there been any changes to your laptop between the time when it showed this information and now? Specifically, program installations and updates (please list).

BIOS update solved that for me, well for my processor

has been numerous windows updates but no hardware changes still factory specs.

lukeroberts has a good point, a BIOS update might help you here.

will try the bios update in the morning and let you know

tried the bios update and one issue with it, i cant it stops responding so that is a nogo.

oh well i guess she will have to live with it.

At what point did it stop? That might be something that's causing some bigger widespread problems on your system.

not sure what point, but i have not noticed any other issues with it.

or are you talking the bios update? if so before it even started to flash to the bios, i double click it and it sits for abit and than vista says program stopped responding and checking for a solution.

i downloaded the bios update directly from acer. and i click on it in vista and nothing it just stops responding and vista tries to find a solution
