I can't seem to use my 4G flash drive to use for ready boost. It tells me that this device does not have the required performance characteristics.

That is probably the case. I am far from any expert on this topic but I understand not all flash disks are ReadyBoost capable. In fact, I just bought a 16GB flash drive and on the pack, it clearly said it was not ready for this feature.

The above answer is correct. I have a flash drive 2G, that will not work with ReadyBoost, yet another flash drive from the same company works with ReadyBoost (256MB). I did research and found that not all flash drives will work.

Some usb's aren't fast enough for readyboost infact if it's not fast enough and it gave you the option for it, it'll bottleneck your whole system.

Actually I already fix it. What happened was that I deleted everything that was there and I didn't install the software that you get from the website. After that I was able to use it for ready boost.
