Vista x64 - window shows briefly at shutdown

Hi,
I've been using my Vista x64 ultimate for a little over a year now - For a few months now, I've noticed that when I click the "shut down" from the start menu (after shutting down all running applications), a small window flashes on the screen (as though the OS brought an app from the background to the foreground to close it). In just about a second, that window vanishes and the PC shuts down normally.

I'm not sure what that window is and while it is not causing any apparent problem, I'm curious to know what that application is.
Any suggestions on figuring out what that application might be?

I've ruled out NIS 2009 & Logitech mouse application - by shutting these down before trying to shut down and by looking at the processes, I am unable to figure out what this might be.

Any help/suggestions on how to figure this out would be welcome :)
thanks

is it like in a command box?

That is normal. it is a program that is taking to long to close, and windows wants you to close it but windows gets it closed before you can click on anything.

my wife's laptop does it some times also.

Hi,
Thank you for your responses - it is not a Command window (DOS style) - it is a application window - white background with a few text boxes in it.
I don't think it is causing a problem (and Windows closes it out before I can get to it), but I'm curious to know what that application is - any suggestions on how to debug it to figure out what that is?
Thanks :)

faderdrs is correct , in XP the window used to say something like "you should not see me" everyone thought they had a virus! Its the same thing in Vista but i think it says something else not sure what , its just a program taking its time

you can alter the ammount of time vista takes to shut programs down , give it a bit longer and you wont see that box , but its nothing , dont loose any sleep over it :)
