PC locked

I had the surprise this morning of not being able to access my PC;
When I booted it, before Windows starting I got the request to enter "system password", I had never came across before. The only password that is set up is mine for the user account but I can't even access it.
I tried to enter my password but the system did not recognize it. I switched off and booted again to no avail untill it says seventh attempt.
I asked my son if he did not dabble with it and he obviously said no.
How can I unlock it without slapping him?

Thanks.
So when I boot the PC on, Vista will ask for this system password I have never heard of, right? So how do I do? Again Windows can't start up without this system password, then I can't access " User accounts".
Is dabbling through the motherboard the only solution?

My Computer

is vista loading or no?

also can you get into safe mode?

if you can try the methods i posted above!

This is the problem, it is not loading.
When you press the start button, you have the usual white messages on blackscreen and within 3 seconds it requests the system password. Getting into safe mode, it just spins and keep on asking for this password

My Computer

sounds like the motherboard is asking for a password but that should only happen if you set one on the bios and only ask for it if you are trying to enter the bios.

My Computer

have read at this

How do I Reset a BIOS Password?

and if that does not work you might have to talk to the manufactuer of the computer.

let me know how it turns out.

to get into the bios it is either F1, F11, or the DEL key on first startup varies depending on the motherboard.

maybe try calling the manufacuer first and see what they say if you are not to computer savvy.
