Does it not show up when you go to my computer? When you save something just browse to your D: drive by going to my computer.

D: is usually the recovery partition that you should leave alone. It serves for reinstalling the system in case of total failure. You should burn the recovery DVDs from there, but that is all. Don't touch, don't write on it - just let it sit there.
BTW: D: is not a hard drive but a partition. You most likely have only 1 hard drive (HDD).

it confuses me because when i bought my computer it said it had loads of hard drive space but it only says something like 65gb gah i dont know about much computer things if anyone thinks they can explain ... :S ol or link to any good sites that can explain lol ty

jachkt, let me try to give you some further details. Usually, PCs come with one harddrive - especially laptops. But desktops can have more than 1 harddrive. So let's say the base case is a system with 1 harddrive. The manufacturers usually divide this harddrive into 2 partition. Partition C: is for the operating system (in your case Vista) and for the user files (documents, pictures, music, etc.). Partition D: is where they store a Vista installation and recovery disk image. Reason is because they are to cheap to give you an installation and recovery DVD when you buy your PC. You are supposed to burn this DVD (in fact you need 2 DVD-R's) form this recovery partition. I highly recommend you do that asap. Type RECOVERY into the start/search field and and the recovery disk creation wizard should show up above. Note, however, that not all makes work the same. Dell for example, ships this DVD with some systems.
Once you burnt your recovery DVDs form partition D:, you could erase everything there and use the space for your own data. It is, however, recommended, not to do that because a) you can never be sure whether your burnt DVDs are any good and b) it it easier to reinstall the system from the D: partition should that ever become neccessary.
If you want further detail, you have to give me the make of your PC and whether it is a laptop or desktop, tell me what is on partition D: (double click on it in Computer) and maybe post a snip of your Disk Management window.

According to your screen shots, that does not look like a recovery partition. It looks like your recovery partition is "hidden". I think Acer does this. The recovery partition can only be accessed via F11 in case you ever want to reinstall your system - which is not something you want or need to do now.
This D: partition shown on your screen shots, however, looks like a normal data partition and it is empty (just one empty folder on it). You can use it for storing data. I have no idea how this EADM folder got on it, but this folder seems to be empty. Maybe you remember how this folder was created.
I have no idea why Acer set it up that way. You could use it to move all your own files to there which would isolate them from the system partition. That gives you more data safety in case of a system crash. If you want to do that, post back. Then I'll explain how you can do that.

well i think id be happy if i could reset my computer to its origional state. like nothing on it and just start from there with all the space on my hard drive or most of it lol because i have installed lots of games then uninstalled them to fit others on etc and its just full of junk that i cant seem to delete or even find whats clogging it up. that was the main reason i inquired into D: so do you know a way of reseting my computer? i have tryed searching the internet for ways to do it but its either explained for XP or all computer geek language that i have no idea wat to do. lol
i dont need anything on my computer at the minuite except a few pictures and music files which could easily be put on disc or usb :/

Here is the Acer procedure from my files. It is pretty simple.

1. Backup all your data

2. Restart your PC and press ALT+F10 when you get the first splash screen - or check on that screen whether they want you to press something else. That gets you to the installation wizard that will guide you.
