unable to shutdown

    unable to shutdown

    hai

    pls help, i got my laptop 1 month ago. able to shutdown properly for about 1 week,after i hve installed MSOff2007,and some utilities, i am having this error while attempting to shutdown:
    "the instruction at 0x76a184fd reference memory at 0x00000000 . The memory could not be read"



    I cant shutdown , ...

    pls assist.

    I don't know any of the technical stuff about the memory, but on all laptops you can do a "hard" shutdown by holding the power button for about 5-10 seconds. It's not ideal but if you have to do it, it works.

    thanks for the knowledge, but thats NOT a 'gracefull' shutdown right?
    i may be killing some process too early and acquire more future issues....

    Just to make sure you do not get you laptop broken, hard shut down is the only thing that you can do if you cannot shut it down the graceful way. Or you can call the laptop manufacturer for instructions.

    To my knowledge, unless there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with your laptop...doing a "hard" shutdown won't create more problems.

    What I mean by a "hard" shutdown is that instead of using the regular windows process of stopping its processes and shutting down normally, you force it to shut down/off by, in essence, killing the power to it.

    Hey man, i had that EXACT same problem on my HP laptop when i had first gotten it, you have to callthe manufacturer and send it in to them, thats what i had to do with mine, and odds are, you still have a warrenty, i didnt buy a warrent but it lasts for 1 year anyway So give em a call.. hop i could help
