I logged on to my laptop only to find the message user profile service service failed to log in so I went into safe mode where it told me that it had failed to log on correctly so was using the default user profile temporarily. Okay I have used disk check my security programs etc and nothing fixed prob I used this site to enable the built-in administration so now I can get onto vista but other user account stilll remains unaccessable. I tried to create new user but will not allow me to do so and system seems userless as nothing shows in user accounts... Can someone pls help me....... I am out of ideas |

| PC Geek | Re: user profile service failed.... HELP Very strange, can you go back onto safe mode and check your services that are running, to do this, just type "services.msc" into the search bar on the start menu and hit enter, continue the prompt and locate "user profile service" and make sure it's set to automatic, it has a dependancy of RPC as well so make sure the remote procedure call is set to automatic as well. you shouldn't have any issues logging in after this if it works. |

| PC Geek | Re: user profile service failed.... HELP would consider using a virus scanner, it doesnt sound normal, if something is stopping you from logging in, then it would be a virus or worm. just to be on the safe side, ask a friend to do it on a different machine. |

| Administrator | Re: user profile service failed.... HELP Manda, I'm happy to hear that your AV program took care of the viruses. All editions of Vista include the built-in Administrator account though. It just needs to be enabled. |
