So, i have an E-machines Desktop T5082, and the site doesn't tell me what kind of Motherboard i have. I want to make sure that i have the latest Bios for it, but i dunno how to find out what kind it is? Are there any programs out there to tell you how, and if not, how can i find out what it is by looking at the physical board itself?

Hello Israfel, welcome to Vista Forums!

I would suggest you not flash the BIOS unless you're having a problem; it's a very risky proposition, you could disable the machine if it's done wrong. ;)

If it'll help my machine run faster i'll do just about anything. My brother is running an old Compaq with 1 Gig of Ram, some crappy Vid card, a Single Core Processor and it STILL runs smoother then mine, granted he is using XP SP3

As Ted has already said, DO NOT FLASH the BIOS unless there is a specific reason.
An example would be to support a new CPU that you wanted to put in the system.
Updating your BIOS will not make it go any faster.

There are good tutorials here on how to speed up Vista;

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/81176-speed-up-performance-vista.html

In this tutorial it does mention the BIOS, but unless there is a problem then leave it alone.

Well, what kind of things would i Flash my Bios for? Slow Startup (From initial powering on to Login screen) or what about Vista randomly freezing? Why would i want to flash a 2.5 yearold Bios?

Do your research.
Look at the bios update screen and see what problems have been resolved.
If none of the updates relate to your conditions then you dont need to update.
This is only my opinion, some people do update the bios when available.
