If i get a 2GB DDR2 will it perform any adavantage? I am currently using 4GB DDR2. Will the 2GB be over taken by my 4GB? Im wondering this because one of my games doesnt look as good as i want it plus i want to enhance performance.

EDIT: I have a dv4 1275mx will the DDR2 fit?

looking good and performance are two different animals, more so when it comes to laptops.

More memory might be able to yield more FPSs (Frames per Second... speed!) if by that much, better visual of graphics comes from your Video card & CPU and I am thinking that having an Onboard chip as a card, does not do well when playing games.

Now, if you give us a little more feedback of what kind of games and what you use the laptop for, we can perhaps help better?

Your problem is going to be how many memory slots you have on the mother board. If there is an empty one, then you will add to the memory on board. The usual case is that there are two slots and both are full (2GB in each slot on yours) your are out of luck unless you buy a 4GB module. In the later cace you would wind up with 6GB, which is about right for Vista.

I don't believe the RAM modules come in 6GB size. The come in 2, 4, & 8GB. I was advising you to remove one 2GB module and replace it with a 4GB module for a total in place of 6GB. That will be the least expensive way to upgrade your RAM.

It has always been my understanding that mismatched RAM is a "bad thing" in dual-channel / triple-channel setups.

Thus, if your system supports dual-channel memory, you would want to run two sticks of identical memory.

Just a thought.
