I have just been reading previous solutions to this problem and understand it is to do with HP. Unfortunately I do not have a disc to insert as I have changed from XP to Vista and the CD I received with my HP printer is for XP, I therefore downloaded the install of the printer from the HP website for Vista. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this annoying installation window that keeps popping up a million times?
Many thanks

A screenshot of the window would be helpful.

At work at present so unable to do that. Will have to do when I get home. I would class myself as a bit of a beginner, know some things but others not a clue. How would I do a screenshot please?

Click:

Start > All Programs > Accessories

In Accessories find Snipping Tool . Click and drag to Desktop
to create a Shortcut.

In the Snipping Tool's dropdown menu choose Rectangular Snip,

move the mouse arrow to a corner of the area you're going to capture

then click-hold-down-drag and release when the rectangle looks right.

You'll also need to save and name the file.

Hi there,
Unable to send tonight as having problems with internet on my pc yet my laptop is okay. I have printed out the messages from the snipping tool that I did on my pc and I will scan them at work tomorrow and send that way. I am just about ready to chuck it through the window. Ha.
Anyway, will speak tomorrow. thanks for your help so far.

There is a file in the installation package that the installer still needs.
Locate that Status file and fill in the path to its location in the popup
with the browse button. If it isn't in the download from HP then the file on
the XP disc might be good enough.
