Access Denied to C drive?

Hey there! Thanks for having me everyone... My first question about Vista (many more to come I'm sure) is how come my access to the C: drive is denied? I get the following message when I attempt to create a new project in my audio program (Cubase LE):

"C:\ is not accessible.

Access is denied."

Earlier today I was unable to unzip an installer I downloaded to the C: drive. How do I gain access to it?

Thanks a LOT for your time:D!

Hello FattMusieK,
The first thing you need to do is to make sure all your permissions are up to date.
Open Computer and go to properties.
Open the security tab.
Click the edit permissions tab and make sure you have full control.
Give this a go and post your results, good luck.

Thanks for the responses. The first thing I did was try to give myself full permission but that didn't solve the problem. What did solve the problem was going into User Accounts in the Family Security tab and turning User Account Control off. Is it unsafe to leave it off? This was not a feature in XP and I never had any problems. No one but my mother and I use this computer. What do you all think? Safe or no?

Probably not safe if you ever go on line, etc.

If you are administrator of that pc, then UAC should prompt you to click through the prompt and access the C: drive. You shouldn't disable UAC. If you do, Internet Explorer loses Protected Mode which makes it run with low privileges so malware can't do too much damage. System security is also lessened.

What you have done is more of a work around that a fix, i would turn UAC back on and try and find a solution to the problem.
