Unable to create a shortcut to Documents folder

I have Vista Home Premium installed on my laptop. I created a partition and mounted it to the Documents folder. Now I can only access the folder via C:\Users\myAccount folder, shortcuts in the Start menu and Links folder don't work. Their icons changed to white papers and nothing happens on double click on them. "Open" from the context menu also disappeared. I tried to create a new shortcut for the folder (right click - create a shortcut, drag-and-drop to the Links folder, right click - send to Desktop) - nothing works. I also created a shortcut for another folder, but as soon as I changed the path in its properties, it stopped working.
What is the problem here? The OS has just been installed, all the rest seems to be OK.
