If the SSD's are too expensive, you may want to try a 7200 rpm drive in your system. I switched to one on my Lenovo tablet and was favorably impressed with it's performance.

There's really only 3 things that you can do to a laptop to improve it's performance:
- add RAM
- get a faster hard drive
- tweak the heck out of the system (a lot of work, but very rewarding).

I'd check this site for suggestions on disabling services: Black Viper's Web Site

Hello William,

According to your laptop specs at Gateway, you currently have a 2.5" 500GB 5400RPM SATA hard drive. So yes, you will be able to use any SSD drive since they are all currently 2.5" and SATA. :)

Hope this helps,
Shawn
