Help : Taskbar Disappeared

There was a sudden power outage that lasted about 1 second and my computer shut down and immediately powered itself up again. Ever since then the taskbar disappeared from my desktop. The resolution was changed too as a result of the outage but I fixed that easily.

Pressing the Windows button on my keyboard does not do anything. When I minimize my windows, they disappear to the right of the screen to nowhere. I have tried to see if the taskbar moved over there but it did not.

I would gladly appreciate if someone could tell me some ways that I could get it back. Thank you.

Press Windows Key + Esc to bring it up. If it doesn't show run this in an elevated cmd prompt:

sfc /scannow

by searching for cmd in the start menu and pressing Ctrl + Shift + Enter. You might the Vista dvd.

I always thought that it was ctrl+esc to bring up the start menu. I tried both methods and neither worked.

I can't access the start menu because the toolbar is not there and the windows key does not do anything. I searched for cmd.exe and ran it and did the sfc/scannow and it told me that nothing was wrong.

I tried the system restore and no luck. I will try it again as soon as I get home because I am at work right now.

I switched over to the Guest account and noticed that the account does have the taskbar. Now I just have to figure out why it does not show on my account.
