ive just reinstalled vista 64bit home premium i downloaded it from a torrent and then validated with my key

im coming from 64bit windows 7 where i had 6 gbs of ram all showing up and in use

but since ive reinstalled vista half of my RAM is missing:cry:
Capture.JPG

i have it running dual channel one set with 4 gbs and the other set 2 gbs
the 4 gbs is corsair 800 mhz and the 2 is stock memory whats also 800mhz

i was gonna ditch the 2 when i bought the corsair ram recently but decided to keep both sets because my WEI score was 6.4 with just the corsair ram 4gbs but went uptoo 7.2 when i added the other stock ram and both sets were running flawlessly together

ive tried both sets on there own and both are working in either slot on motherboard

when i just used the 2 gbs it showed up something like 1980 ram in or something and when i just used the 4 set it was showing the same amount as the picture above

i was thinking ive got some fake 64bit vista but 64bit programs work

any suggestions ..any clues..any solutions

much appreciated:D

From all the searching I've done, this is quite a rare issue... But it seems it's a BIOS issue. Odd though, since it seemed to have worked with Win7. Nonetheless, why don't you try this.

The BIOS must support the memory remapping feature. The memory remapping feature allows for the segment of system memory that was previously overwritten by the Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) configuration space to be remapped above the 4 GB address line. This feature must be enabled in the BIOS configuration utility on the computer. View your computer product documentation for instructions that explain how to enable this feature. No standard terminology is used in documentation or in BIOS configuration utilities for this feature.
Let me know if this helps...

Either way, updating the BIOS sounds like a good idea in this case.

Yep Its a BIOS setting called MAX RAM and it should be unchecked. boot to bios find it and uncheck both it and max cpu.

Good Luck

Just a quick question, what graphics do you have? And who's the manufacturer of your mobo?

Here's another someone with a similar issue. This is apparently what did it? :

In msconfig disabled using both cores and 4GB of memory while system booting.

This is relating to Win7, I wonder if it will be relevant here. Give it a shot. He describes the entire process in detail with screen shots in that thread.
