Comp not recognizing my graphics card, and a couple other things

Well, I just re-installed my os today because of some major startup glitches (and I couldn't run the world of warcraft launcher, or task manager, or any other game launcher) and I had to call Dell tech support because I wasn't sure exactly what was causing the problem.

My computer starts up fine now but it doesn't look the same. It looks like my dad's (32-bit). Like it doesn't have the somewhat clear windows, and the control panel options to change it are different. And it's not as sharp as it used to be. I notice a very small blur around everything.

Also, when I tried to change my screen saver it says "The screen saver cannot run because it requires a newer video card or one that's compatible with Direct3D". I had no problems with this before today when they re-installed my os and the drivers and stuff.

I'm thinking the screen saver is a driver problem (but I'm not completely sure), which is easy to fix, but I have no clue why nothing looks like 64-bit any more, even though my computer reads it as 64-bit when I go to my specs.

Is it because I still have service pack 1?

And if so, how do I get service pack 2? Because it's not coming up with any windows update stuff.

Thanks

You have to install all the updates first to get the SP2 pack in Windows Update.
Check the Card adapter properties, and tell me what it says-

Microsoft driver (generic)
ATi/NVidia

What do you mean by check the card adapter properties?

Sorry I'm not really good with computer software.

I just know I have an ATI HD 3650

And I checked the driver folder. It's driver R202507. I googled it and it came up with ATI HD 3450. So I checked my driver disk and that's what was on it. So I went to the dell site to download the one for the 3650 but when I click download it keeps asking me to download the manager.

Right click desktop, click "personalize", click "display settings", click "advanced settings" Check your "adapter string", and tell me what it says.

do you have the HD 3650,or the HD 3450?

ok goto control panel, then system then go to hardware then click on device manager!

then once there click display adapter. once there, u should be able to click on ur video card, and then go to properties, then click update driver and be sure to put ur disk in with ur video card driver's on it, before u tell it to upgrade driver's.

Worst case, u might have to uninstall ur display adapter then search for new hardware and be sure to have ur driver disk in, so it gets the right driver's for ur video card.

Yep, and that is your problem.
Your Graphics card/adapter is not recognized, and no ATI driver is installed.

Make sure you install the right graphics card software/driver for your card.

It's a notebook.

Ya I was looking into that because I remember I had the catalyst control center before I had to restore my computer and it worked great and I could adjust the graphics settings with it and everything so I loved it.

I'm just not sure how to set it all up because my uncle got everything set up on my computer after I bought it because he's a networker and knows a lot about that kind of stuff.

Is there any file or anything I need to save it to in particular?
