Hello!

I am a new Vista (x64) user and when I woke up this morning this was going on. Can someone please help me resolve this issue, I rely on my computer to run my home business. I appreciate your swift action. When I bring it up in safe mode and ask for the prompt to find solutions, nothing happens.

Thanks!

I found the miniDump folder but there is no zip file. Do you want me to zip all the files in that folder together? there are approximately 100 files in that folder.

Just take the most recent couple and zip them then upload. If you have 100 BSOD dumps you have a problem

I think this bluescreen error happened while I was asleep so I couldn't turn off my computer of deal with it in time. I think my computer just kept resetting itself until I turned my computer off and then tried to log in under normal mode to uninstall my iTunes (the only recent program to have been installed lately).

Jeff While waiting for someone with a true debugger I took a quick look at the last 3 dumps. they all list adpu160m.sys file as the faulting file. that file is used by the adeaptec driver. you can read abt it here adpu160m.sys - Greatis Software . Im thinking you have an adaptec controller (RAID?) that is giving you grief.

Best bet while you are waiting for a true read. If the adaptec is a raid driver get the newest driver you can find (even vista if nec). Not sure if you are 32bit or 64 but get the right driver and you may even have to install it in the compatability mode (right-click compat tab)

Hope this helps

Hey Ken!

Thanks!

I checked out the link you provided and honestly I am unfamilar with this driver. (adpu160m.sys - Greatis Software)

How do I find out it which RAID adaptec controller I have and do I find the drivers on the download section of VISTA? Also, I'm 64bit.

I apologize for my lack of knowledge in this area.

Dont worry we all started with little knoweldge. you can type device manager in search and goto the controller tab. right click and get properties. If there is an "unknown" device with a yellow triangle that needs a driver

Hope this helps

Hey Ken!

I went into the Device Manager and checked everything just to be certain. The only thing that had a yellow caution sign was under the System Devices tap for the Consumer IR Devices. I tried to "update the driver automatically", but it said it was up-to-date and tried to "check for solutions", but nothing came up.

Properties:

Consumer IR Devices

Device Type: System Devices
Manufacturer: Microsoft
Location: Unknown

Device Status: This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.

Driver files: DRIVERS/circlass.sys

So did you see an adaptec device?

Please go to Start and type in "msinfo32" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
Save the report that is generated as an .nfo file, then zip it up and attach it to your next post.

Also, please let us know the exact make and model of your system (the make and model of the motherboard if it's a custom build). Also, are you using any SCSI devices? Are you using any add-on cards that support disk drives?

There is an LSI Logic device (most likely related to SCSI devices) on your system who's drivers are severely out of date. With the make and model of the motherboard (and the report above) we can figure out which driver is needed for this particular issue. Also, there are a lot of outdated drivers on the system, so fixing this one should only be considered a temporary fix.

Here's a list of the outdated drivers. There are numerous storage drivers there, so I wonder if the sheer amount of storage controllers on the system causes conflicts between them. Do you know why there's so many different controllers installed?:

My Computer

I have attached the msinfo32 info you requested.

My laptop: HP HDX X18T-1200 CTO Premium Notebook PC and hopefully all the other info you need is in the ZIP you requested.

Reguarding the SCSI, I am lost. I looked up what it meant but how can I affectively find out this information for you? Is it the ports that I hook up my Ipod, external drive to backup my labtop, etc?

If there are a lot of outdated drivers on my system who do I go about determining which ones need to be updated. Is that in the systems manager? If so I check ed most of them and it said they were all updated. This is so bizarre, considering before yesterday my computer was perfect and I just bought it on June 6th.

If you can help me fix it rather than something temporary I would greatly appreciate it. I saved up money for a year to buy a laptop and I spent too much for all this to be going on.

I appreciate your time reguarding this matter.

My Computer

woops. sorry somehow i missed the big long list you provided me with the out of date drivers.

"...you know why there's so many different controllers installed?" No idea. If it's about storage, the only thing I have is a simpletech external drive that I use to backup my laptop. Otherwise i have no idea what all that is.

My Computer

I just tried doing a search for some of those files and so far none of them have been found.

Jeff

John is our resident guru. If anyone can solve this he can. I think I may have confused two BSOD threads and I think I should go back and check both. I will be back as soon as I get it figured out. Sorry for the confusion\
