Inspecific SFC issue and log file

CLOSED: Inspecific SFC issue and log file

I have been working with this machine for two weeks and I have hit a snag. The SFC log file isn't very friendly to understanding why it "cannot complete the requested operation."

May I ask someone here for a translation? Here is the end of the log file at the point where the errors began.

Please and thank you.

Are your running the SFC from an elevated command prompt?

What exactly are you trying to fix with SFC?

Anything and everything, really. It was a last ditch effort.

This Vista installation was just too badly damaged for automated repair, and I don't have a slipstreamed SP2 installation disk anyway. I'm pretty sure some bad hardware played into its initial corruption. The second RAM slot seems not to work correctly, however all the RAM passes testing. When any RAM chip is plugged into slot two, a slew of very random BSODs occur. 0x1a, 0x20, 0x7a, 0x01, 0x04...

Removed RAM chip, played the 'newbie card' and reinstalled Vista. Thanks anyway! Topic closed.
