Disk Cleanup

I used Disk Cleanup yesterday to clean all files on Drive: "C". It cleaned out all the files on my "J" & "K" Flashdrives which were plugged in at the time. What happened? Why? How can I get these files back?
Thanks in advance for all help.

Good news. You can salvage your files using the utility "recuva". Keep that in mind if you have sensitive files you thought were permanently deleted.

Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File Recovery - Home

Thanks very much lemur...I do have Search and Recover2 I just found, which works w/all versions of Windows including XP, 2000, NT4, ME, 98 & 95. Will it work w/Vista?

Just about everything...I'm trying to keep my harddrive as clean as possible in order to keep it from bogging down.

L

It might have to be run in compatibility mode and if it doesn't there are many alternatives. Jusst dont leave the flashdrives in.

Re: Disk Cleanup

Recuva will work with Vista. Have you recovered your files yet?

In that case, consider a second physical hard disk to back up all your files too, or a separate partition for data, carved out of your original disk. It will be easier to back up this partition. The partition can be backed up with any decent backup software, most easily to an external drive, or if you choose the hard drive option, that can also be backed up.
